I have always loved working one on one with people. So much in fact that my career began as a nurse after I graduated nursing school with the Board of Cooperative Education Services, New York in 1976. However thirteen years ago I was partially paralyzed, and I was introduced to the healing powers of massage therapy, homeopathy, and acupuncture. The doctors said I would never be able to regain control of my neck, but through these therapies I was able to heal dramatically and I no longer have any issues with my neck or paralysis. Massage therapy had played such a critical part in changing my life and I was quite interested in learning more about it. In 2001 I started a two-year program at the Professional School of Massage in Langhorne, PA.
I tore my rotator cuff in my shoulder during the course of my massage schooling. Traditional massage therapy yielded little results and I began wondering about other alternatives. I found the John Barnes Clinic in Paoli, PA went for a session, and after one treatment the results so dramatic I signed up to study the techniques known as Myofascial Release. From 2002 until present day, I have taken 11 Advanced Myofascial Release courses. Each course is simply amazing, and through them I have experienced and witnessed the profound results of this therapy time after time. Basic massage therapy is simply not an option anymore, and I didn’t decide this. My clients did. After offering Myofascial Release at my practice in Doylestown, PA my patients have insisted on it over traditional massage therapy and have not requested massage since.
I am constantly looking for new, innovative and proven ways to relieve chronic pain and promote relaxation for my clients. Most recently, I became certified in the ELDOA Method Level 1. ELDOA is a technique created by renowned osteopath Guy VOYER that teaches precise postures to provide targeted relief from pain and increase spinal flexibility. It is oftentimes used in conjunction with Myofascial Release Therapy (MRT). Patients have seen significant improvement in pain relief and total body wellness when ELDOA techniques are incorporated into MRT treatments. I also teach my clients ELDOA postures so that they can incorporate them into their daily routine. Once learned, these postures take only a minute a day to perform and help to add more fluidity to the joints. I have a strong belief in the effectiveness of the ELDOA Method in treating my patients and will continue to pursue training to hone my skills as an ELDOA practitioner. I will become certified in ELDOA Level 2 after completing training this December.
My ELDOA studies naturally connected me to the practice of Pilates, which is all about lengthening the spine and strengthening the total body. I have partnered with Integrative Fitness Solutions (www.ifspilates.com), a comprehensive pilates studio in Yardley, PA whose mission is to enable self-healing and wellness through focused, personalized, therapeutic movements. I am available for therapeutic Myofascial Release and ELDOA treatments at the studio on Mondays and Thursdays. And while you are there be sure to check out their wonderful pilates class offerings!
